A SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE |

|
MIM-MANAGERS' RENEWAL PROGRAMME (MIM-THORA)
21 - 26 July 2008 |
|
|
 |
At the
Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), we have noticed that as the nation progresses,
there is an unfortunate decline in social consciousness, traditional values, and personal
integrity among Malaysians. This is evidenced by the plight of abandoned parents and
children, road rage, corruption, lack of civic responsibility in public places, acts of
violence against women, and environmental degradation among others. Such atrocities are a
far cry from what the nation aspires to be in 2020 - a developed country cultured on
a platform of a united nation, with a confident Malaysian society infused by commendable
integrity, strong morals and ethical values, that is caring, democratic, liberal and
tolerant, progressive, and economically just.
It is towards this gap in social development that MIM conceived and initiated the
MIM-THORA Programme ten years ago, targeting at the self renewal of mid career individuals
in the age group 36 to 45 years. It is aimed at helping them soul search, see the meaning
of life, what went wrong in society, the part they play in society, and decide how they
can redirect their lives to bring about the society that Malaysia aspires to be.

|
| The MIM-THORA Programme is
designed in line with the government's aspirations as reflected in the National
Social Policy. The key to
achieving real reforms in the national landscape is a change in attitudes and mindsets,
which is what the MIM -THORA Programme aims to do. This residential programme provides a
journey to human excellence for the participants, so that at the end of the journey, they
will renew themselves and redirect their lives to lead a more balanced life with a
responsibility to setting examples and playing an active role towards creating a society
imbued with the core human values of caring, respect, integrity and compassion.
