MIM-RAMLEA
A SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE |
|
|

|
There are some people who have worked hard throughout their career looking forward to retirement as a time to indulge themselves in activities that they have missed out in their earlier adult life. Then, there are those who dread retirement because they will have too much time on their hands and do not know what
to do. Senior citizens only need to look and they will discover the countless areas that they can actively contribute and make a difference. Although no longer gainfully employed, they should continue to live life to the fullest rather than merely existing, making life challenging while setting fresh priorities and goals. Psychological researches have shown that specific forms of human
intelligence actually increase, as people grow older.
The MIM-RAMLEA programme hopes to revive this "crystallised intelligence" and introduce the concept of
"mutual dependence" where participants explore the dynamics between
"giving" and "receiving", between being needed and being needy. It is
an all expenses-paid programme, aimed at enabling retiring or retired individuals find
purpose and activity in the golden years of their lives. The programme will expose
participants to talks, readings, discussions, visitations and reflections that will help
them rediscover themselves and the society around them. They will find purpose and
direction, but also participate in activities as well as build rewarding relationships.
From these experiences, participants will play a more active role in community development programmes putting their wealth of knowledge and experience to good use while continuing to create value in society.
