Since his tenure as GE's Chairman and CEO, he has driven the company to adapt a customer-driven culture that is global and diverse. Twice named "World's Best CEO" by Baron's polls, Jeffrey Immelt is the visionary behind GE's remarkable success and progress. He also serves as chairman of The Business Council and he is on the board of three non-profit organisations: Catalyst, devoted to advancing women in business, Robin Hood, focused on addressing poverty in New York City and the New York Federal Reserve Bank.

There are 300,000 employees in over 100 countries and it is in six strong businesses: Infrastructure, Healthcare, Commercial Finance, Consumer Finance Industrial and NBCU. The company's biggest strategic challenge is how the business continually strives to drive growth. It has to constantly make size an advantage and take risks to leverage its scale. Because of its size, GE is impacted in many ways when something happens. For example, four days after Jeff Immelt took office in September 2001, 9/11 occurred.
