| TAR Lecture Programme GE
is the seventh largest company in the US, 11th in the world, with 2006 revenues of
US$163.4 billion and US$500 billion of financial assets. There are 300,000 employees in
over 100 countries and it is in six strong businesses: Infrastructure, Healthcare,
Commercial Finance, Consumer Finance Industrial and NBCU.
The company's biggest strategic challenge is how the business continually strives to drive
growth. It has to constantly make size an advantage and take risks to leverage its scale.
Because of its size, GE is impacted in many ways when something happens. For example, four
days after Jeff Immelt took office in September 2001, 9/11 occurred. That alone left GE
with a US$600 million hit to GE's insurance business and huge uncertainty in an already
weak economy.
Find out how a global enterprise like GE stays ahead. In this lecture, Mr Jeffrey Immelt,
Chairman and CEO, will discuss globalisation, constrained resources and ecomagination, GE
strategy and of course GE leadership. |
